Project Description
Juan & Marisol
MASTERING THE PERUVIAN HANDICRAFT AND PROUD OF IT.

Our story
Juan was born 45 years ago in a very special city named Quinua in the province of Ayacucho. Married to Marisol, they have two girls Evelyn and Aracely of 18 and 11 years old.
Quinua is known as a place where you can find art everywhere. As a very religious place, it is typical and easy to find many types of churches, nativities and religious representations.
Juan has been always curious; he is always looking to innovate on his products and has natural sense of design that is very valuable. His best seller products are the nativities and churches from different sizes, piggy banks with different shapes like owls, cats and the typical “Ginny pig”. On many of his designs he uses natural paints prepared with the same clay of the place.
Even though the internal violence of the 80’s, Juan has always lived and worked in Quinua, at his place he opened an store where he receives foreigners interested in learning more about the Quinua handicraft and want to buy a souvenir to take home.
Our art and technique

Jorge uses molds to give life to all his creations. He puts a portion of terracota on a plaster mold and after giving it a soft press the piece will come out easily.
After the molding of the piece, it is dried to the sun and later burnt in an oven at 1,000 C°. When the piece is ready, Jorge uses paintings or natural paints prepared with the same clay of the place to decorate each piece.
